Fully Funded Graduate Research Scholarship Grants at University of Melbourne 2023

The Graduate Research Scholarships are automatically awarded to students who have applied for a graduate research course by the application closing date for that course.

The University of Melbourne has now opened the application process for its 2023 Graduate Research Scholarship Grants.

This scholarship is fully funded for international students studying at the University of Melbourne. Scholarships are offered for Master’s and PhD studies. As part of these scholarships, students are covered for tuition, travel allowances, and living expenses of about $31,200 per year.

What it is:

Throughout your course, you will receive hundreds of prizes for your hard work and accomplishments. The first year of your undergraduate studies. You can win prizes during internships and through your PhD. that will assist you in concentrating on your studies. They will become an essential part of your CV not only while you study.

The Melbourne Model is designed for international flexibility, and sends more than 1300 students abroad each year on semester, year, or short-term intensive programs. In addition to seeking funding for their research overseas, graduate students can conduct research and publish papers, as well as participate in conferences and interact with colleagues.


  • For students pursuing a Master by Research degree, it takes two years
  • Students pursuing a doctorate can expect to study for up to 3.5 years

Perks of submitting an application

A University of Melbourne Scholarship 2022 recipient will be able to take advantage of the following benefits:

  • Students undertaking a master’s degree by research or a doctorate will be entitled to a full fee offset over a period of up to two years.
  • In the case of students undertaking a Masters by Research degree or a doctoral degree, a living allowance of $31,200 per year is available for a maximum of two years (2020 full-time study rate), and for a maximum of 3.5 years if the student is taking a PhD. Living allowances include sick, maternity and parental leave that can be indexed annually.
  • A student moving from outside Australia or from a state or territory other than Victoria can receive a relocation grant of $2000.
  • The OSHC Single Membership is designed for international students studying in Australia on a student visa.

Scholarships offset fees

  • Students undertaking a master’s degree by research or a doctorate will be entitled to a full fee offset over a period of up to two years.

Procedures for submitting an application:

Graduate Research Scholarships will automatically be awarded to new students who apply for graduate research courses by the application deadline.

A graduate research course offer that you have accepted and deferred commencement to be reconsidered for a scholarship must be submitted online by 31 October in order to be considered for the following year’s scholarship.

The deadline to apply for a scholarship if you are currently enrolled in a graduate research course is 31 October. 

Amount of scholarships awarded

The number is approximately 600

Factors that determine selection

For consideration for University of Melbourne Scholarships, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • It is necessary to speak English.
  • Countries eligible for participation: All countries in the world.
  • Meet the entry requirements for the University of Melbourne’s Master and Doctorate by research degrees, or be enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
  • Terms and Conditions (as amended) govern these scholarships.
